The TC Homeschool digest through Yahoo is a terrific tool for any homeschooler in the Tri-Cities area.  This is an e-mail list through which homeschoolers can share relevant information – important homeschool-related news, items for sale or being sought, upcoming meeting and event announcements, etc. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TChomeschool/

THEA: The Tennessee Home Education Association (THEA) was formed in 1984 to provide a statewide network of support, encouragement, and assistance to homeschooling families and for the purpose of preserving and defending the rights of parents to direct the education of their children.

KACHEA: KACHEA stands for Kingsport Area Christian Home Education Association which is a very active support group that has been in existence for over 20 years. KACHEA has sports teams, spelling and geography bees, a yearbook, an optional co-op that meets once a week on Tuesday mornings during the school year, a Spring Formal to honor the graduating seniors, an informational meeting for new homeschoolers and a large book sale each May. TEACH is the Tri-Cities Education Association for Christian Homeschoolers and has 3 co-ops serving Gray, Blountville, and Greeneville. TEACH offers weekly classes, yearbook, activities, clubs and field trips, along with a graduation each year. First Class Johnson City is a nationwide ministry devoted to supporting homeschooling families. First Class co-op meets on Fridays at First Christian Church in JC with a variety of classes and activities. KCA is Kingsport Christian Academy, “a unique educational opportunity” modeled after a University Model School in Texas.  KCA offers many different classes in science, math, foreign language, writing classes, high school electives and more. Parent Support Meeting Time: 2nd Tuesdays each month, 6-8pm, Bristol Public Library

Purpose: Support homeschoolers in Bristol VA/TN, Abingdon, and surrounding areas.

 

Charlotte Mason Homeschool Community

Meetings on Tuesday nights at 6:30 every 6 weeks.  The locations alternate between Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol.   There is also a local co-op for families implementing Charlotte Mason.
